I hate to go along with the popular vote, but Redarmy is a dick. "Novelty act"? They've been around kinda long for that, haven't they? I'm not a big CoF fan, and so i agree that they're full of gimmicks, but they actaully have the music and talent to back it up. They've put out enough good shit to justify the stupid photo-shoots and 'vestal masturbation' shirts.
As for deep_and_down_and_stupid, black metal pop is an oxymoron. CoF are a lot slicker than most black metal, and they do represent (along with Satyricon) about the most mainstream black metal can get, but not everyone has to sound like Dimmu Borgir or Suffocation and Morbid Angel. We'd be better off if more people DID sound like DB and suffocation and MA, but that doesn't mean this isn't okay too.
