Actually slpaulson Afi got it screwed up on their cd... Anyways a tome is a book (possibly one in a number of volumes). I find that this expecially a hard song to assign a meaning to also.
I think that the person in this song is returning to a place in time or people he knew in time and keeps reminising what went on. Passed through wet eyes means that he didnt accept what was presented to him because he was crying or in other words a state of depression or sadness that altered his judgements. I think that this song is relating to a "book" or period out of someones life where they messed up and wanted so much to go back and change what happened because they went down the wrong path. And that path led them to loose everything he/she had or loose everything relating in their life (or their life itself). We all have times like this is our lives but we must realize that it helps us to grow and develope and obsessing over the past is not the way to deal with things. All in all this is a great afi song.
