the line ' Summer Here Kids ' & note to british media (kids is NOT a noun) represents maybe a metaphoric place that isnt all it's cracked up to be.

Imagine if you see a commercial on TV, ' Come to this tourist destination, you'll have a wonderful time ' and you get there, and don't enjoy it at all. In a metaphoric sense i think this idea is what Jason was trying to capture, but I do believe it's meant to be a rather vague topic that could be seen many ways. I think the Summer reference to Grandaddy probably relates to a lot of the hyped scenes, places, music and lifestyles that they see and hear about going on in the big cities and community that they (being country folk) just arent interested in and don't want to be a part of - therefore that lifestyle ' kids '.

the end lines ' I'm not having a good time ' sticks in your head. HOW GOOD IS IT, makes you start to question yourself.. are you having a good time? are you being honest with yourself?
