For some reason I can imagine this song at a high school graduation, asking all the people you have burned bridges with over the years to forgive you....and sort of trying to make them see that you really do care about them, even though you may have hurt them. It's just an image, but I guess that's kind of the meaning for me, asking for forgiveness
