This song has always spoken to me. I think it relates to suicide. His friends sister committed suicide and now they are all at the funeral. About a year and half ago we got a call saying that my dad had committed suicide. Its funny but one of my friends played this song to me after the funeral and i could relate to it so well.
"What crimes have you committed, demanding such a pennance that couldnt wait for 5 more minutes.." To me that means what did these people think that they have done in their lifes to deserve to die? To not want to life anymore or to not even feel worthy to do so. Why couldnt they have just told someone how they felt and why didnt they do that? It also talks about how we truely all do take life for granted until something like this happens. I could have never realized how important my father was to me or how much i wish i could just call and talk to him today. "And i hate the silence..." How we hate the voice that we can longer hear.
