I agree that this song is originally about heroin and forms a comparrison with love.
But it has also made me think of other similarities and how it demonstrates that love can become an addiction.
I have never touched drugs but I definatively have been addicted to people!This can be almost as dangerous as being addicted to a drug-as you start to believe without them you can't be happy.
When I first get into a relationship I tell myself that I will not compromise who I am and will not fall too deep-just like most people that start to use tell themselves that they won't become addicted.
People start to lose their own identity when they get into a relationship much like drug users.
Sometimes drug users take a weaker drug to keep them going when they can't get their usual fix-we might look to someone else whom we have no emotion for as a quick fix when we lose the person we really love.
