I love this song for it's lyrics are so epic... they are very straightforward, telling of a Viking general leaving his home and his family to do battle across the ocean. The fact that the narrative follows the Viking in a sympathetic and sorrowful tone adds to the emotion behind the song. The imagery of the five longboats roaring across the waves like mythical dragons is very inspired and beautiful, too, despite the theme of the song being the certainty of facing death and destruction as soon as they land on the enemy shore. Possibly my favourite Amon Amarth song.
