I believe that this song is about a girl who committed suicide at 17. She had what looked to be a perfect life - great family, great friends, a boyfriend who cared, basically all around a lot of love. She was probably a confident girl - she told the singer that she would date him "from september to december." Yet, even with all of this, she didn't see the good in life. No one knew though, but after she kills herself she "has nothing to hide" and now sees things that only come in dreams as she is dead.
