I think that this song is about defending poor people who commit little petty crimes because they have to, when there are peopl doing worse things that we dont class as "criminals"

Many assume that each song is about being gay and as they are written, manly by Morrissey, they therefore assume he is gay. If they would just read Autobiography before thinking they are true fans that know everything about Morrissey and The smiths, well, that would be nice...
