i'm not sure what this song is supposed to be about...but i feel like its about a man who is playing with his daughter, and since she is still innocent in her childhood, she doesnt understand that although they are laughing together and having a good time, he isnt such a great dad. he pretends to call up his daughters teacher in front of her, just so he looks like a good parent, and so she thinks he is involved. although they dont always get along, he carries a picture of her inside his jacket. now im not sure about this part, but i think that since anne doesnt recognize the person in the picture as herself, it may be a picture of someone that he sees her as, maybe someone he wants her to be? she doesnt care, and regardless of his feelings, doesnt want to spend time with him anymore..and he knows that, and feels indifferent about it.
