well, we know a cicada is a bastard irritating insect that hides underground for 17 years, comes above ground, mates, and dies... the parallels to a sexually frustrated teenager sort of manifests itself rather easily...
and it's unfortunate that Daniel Johns hates this song so... for it's my favourite off that Frogstomp album. I know his voice was exhausted/shot by time he was recording Cicada; i wonder if that fuels his resent.
