Cover art for Catatonic lyrics by Babes in Toyland

i think there aren't really drug references here; if anything they're disparaging self-harm references. i could understand someone interpreting the imagery as drug-induced hallucinations. but i think there is more of a hint of schizophrenia here (hence 'catatonic') 'mary' is the doppelganger (think really hard about who this might be) she can't get away from, who's under her skin, and the toilet/fucked/eyes thing is a way of making her sound hideous, and expressing horror and disgust.

12345 glad you're not alive 678910 back to hell again

  • imagining the double dead... pretty straightforward a twisted playground chant that shows how far gone she is with it all

i know you well i wear your smell

  • she knows the others' faults intimately and can't even get rid of her lingering smell

nailed at the hips i see you are me - hatred and fear of the symbiotic relationship between them; in seeing her faults she also sees her own

this sick charade- the acting out of mirroring each other is like an illness

the screaming in general just SOUNDS like she's in flight from something she can't escape (-mary).
