I think this song is about how a lot of people confuse Love with Lust nowadays.
Bono says he will stay loyal, "take these boots they're going nowhere
you know these boots they don't want to stray" and he wants this girl to take him and "tie him down" (so he doesn't leave) Then they start having sex, confusing it with love. "pushing and shoving in the belly of a woman" could perhaps mean she gets pregnant? Then the "heavy rythym taking over" could be that they've finally outgrown their sexual relationship, and now are settling down and just trying to "stick together"
The part in the song that confuses me is the constant references to the sun and rain. Maybe looks can be deceiving?
Either way, I'm disgusted by the lack of comments on this song, one of the best on "Pop"
