I think the title says a lot. #2 wrote all of these songs and I believe to him, it is his whole life. So, he's writing for his life.
The actual song seems to be about a break-up, and learning from that relationship.
"It took losing you, to find me."
"[...] and I'm happy for you, if you're happy without me."
Those two point pretty well to it being about a break-up.
"Cause, you live... you learn, and you make your mistakes"
That's about learning and growing from everything that happens in life.
But there's still pain in breaking up, and writing is his only escape from the pain.
It's definately a positive song, not one that looks to bash the other person or drown itself in sorrow. This is a great song.
