This is a really depressing song. I can't be sure of what I think it means, but, I think it at least has something to do with maybe her cheating on him. Hence, " burning like a flame inside of you. " and then he's beating himself up for staying with her, figuring it's his fault he is hurting. Because he says, ' so shame on me for the ruse...the blues. " He keeps telling himself that he'll stick it out and he won't get tired of the situation. and another reason I think it's about cheating is because he says, " one more boy for hire, one more boy to lend a hand to you.
