Side 2. Hes got the girl and is happy. Seems like the relationship was consumated between the time the first side ended and the time you put this one on.(thinking in terms of original LP) All very sweet but does anyone think that the Davis' bass is a little out of place?? hmm? a little harsh?overpowering? maybe even violent??is everything good at every level?
People complain about this song for this album, because they see this song as one continuous piece of art. I agree with that. But I like the song.

For me it is simple: in an album that largely focuses on the fleeting nature of love, lovers and even time, this song pinpoints those moments when we first meet someone and we feel we have it all. And by the final song, Slim Slow Slider, the illusion of the feeling of young love has long been shattered.
Some may not feel that it fits in with the album. But, I do. For anybody that has ever experience that that bold new feeling that comes with finding a new lover, especially in our innocent younger days, knows that that feeling is only short lived and fleeting until reality sets in. But just because it can't last, doesn't mean Van shouldn't celebrate it. He does with this song, and he does it well, in my opinion.
