Cover art for I Miss New Wave lyrics by Matthew Good Band

I had a huge 1 page thing written in here, but I clicked on the link and my comp froze, so this time im gonna make it short.

The song is about monotony driving someone insane and driving them to do tragic and obscene things.

Matthew good is commenting on all the things that are spoon fed to us in our society. Things are always made to be pleasing, or generally liked. Matthew good is tired of this.

In real life things are not always prepackaged and things definately do not work out perfectly all the time. This is what keeps us sane.

Matthew Good is losing his sanity to todays society, and thats why he is reaching out for something drastic to bring change into his life, such as getting laid in a lawn chair and drowning in a bath tub filled with beer.

He is tired of things always being processed to the point where they are not real anymore. He wants the scratches from his vinyl records back because they reminded him that the music was made by a human being. Nowadays everything comes with crystal clear sound, and it sounds the same every time you play it. Like a machine. He wants something more raw, more left to chance, more real (miss new wave and real intents).

He also comments on the fact that some things are made to seem real just to fulfill someone's agenda or please someone. ("or just the parts where it's a-okay"). He is being sarcastic when he says this. He doesnt want something to be made with flaws so it can seem real just to please him. He wants something which is real because it is. He wants something unadulterated, pure and relentless. He is tired of being protected at all times, he wants to crash and burn, but on his own terms.

Of course, there is more emanign to this song than what I have talked about, however I am tired, if people are interested I might post back on here some time in the future.

Another thing. I just noticed I put a lot of words into matthew goods mouth in this post. Just remember that this is my interperetation of the song and it may be completely wrong, I am not saying that matthew good said any of this, this is just what I believe.
