It's mainly about how being shallow can affect your life, and 'fucking' someone because theyre attractive is one of the biggest mistakes you can ever make. Its semi-inspired by the movie American Beauty, hence the 'broken hearts and rotting minds' part which pertains how that guy has all those tapes of things he feels is beautiful. While it is semi-inspired by the movie, it again has a lot to do with real life.
Cardinal Wind means "extremely important wind" and when I say wind (and remember some of this is by my own personal experiance) i mean that I may never be considered as attractive by said people, but i can be extremely important to theyre life, and they need me more than they think.
