To me it sounds more like its about a guy who has committed a crime of some sort, and he's wishing it never happened ("I'm trying so hard to act like nothing happened").
People are accusing him of this crime("They will sum it all up in a sentence"), and people just think of him as his crime like a murderer for example("I AM WHAT I'VE DONE").
He's trying to live with the crime he's committed which was only a few minutes("dirty minutes"), but the guilt is eating away at him ("I hide my dirty minutes under the dirty mattress and they are making me itch").
I could be totally reading this out of context though, but I dont think the title of the song has much to do with the meaning unless its something to do with this 'crime'. Thoughts?
