He realizes that he could fail and is able to come to grips with that and chance it all. "a leap of faith" As in the myth the boy ignores the warnings of his father and attempts to escape a life that is imprisoning and restraining him in order to reach the "sun" or the impossible. The melting point of wax means nothing to me, the sun will not stop him from achieving his dreams. By escaping what is restrainging him, he is able to become a better artist.
