I think I'd like this song more if John Mayer didn't sing it. Coming from him, it just seems too obnoxious. I'd rather hear an underrated, struggling artist sing about how they're going to make it someday than an overrated, established one. I didn't like HEAVIER THINGS at all, it was much too jazzy for me and it just didn't live up to any earlier stuff. Maybe JM, who always wanted to be a jazz artist, figures he can just turn jazz now that he has a large fanbase. (Would most of his 'fans' even notice?) But it's not up to me to question his methods...
Everybody feels these things, though -- Struggling and well-established. That's why I liked it: Because even though a better know artist, and yes, one that could be thought of as obnoxious, still has these issues. It makes people know they're not alone, and it was cool he admitted it :)
