You people take it too literaly, the basement isnt an acctual structure but most likely a prison he mentaly build for himself. Mother probibly signifies a domeneering female figure like a controling girlfriend or something. The whole "cause if you want you can take it all away from me" is something that shows up in alot of the songs and that probibly means exactly what it says, he just doesnt care anymore.
