i think this is about a person who has lost interest in something they once loved....they used garden as their metaphor b/c a garden takes a lot of care, and if it is not cared for they will do their own thing kinda like "now the grass is always overgrown
and the weeds are choking out the sun
pretty soon they'll come under the door" which is all the effect of "and you don't care"
