Some good points, though a lot of misconceptions I think. Saying 'sorry' has been a rather poignant issue in Australia for many years, and relates to members of the Aboriginal community wanting a formal apology from the government for the so-called 'stolen generation'. This occurred in the 60's and 70's, when welfare agencies removed a lot of Aborigine children from their parents because they were believed to be living in sub-standard conditions (a controversial point to this day). Anyhow, that's something slipnino got a bit wrong. I think the song relates to a sense of relativity... it's easy to think life is going badly, but your current problems aren't as bad as they could be (ie, going from footrot to a heart attack), and also it's easy to think things are OK, but in reality they aren't.

"Head is up your arsehole as you move along Walk around pretending that there is nothing wrong"

Interesting contrast between not caring about rent, and not caring about the environment etc. The big things affect everyone, but are ignored ahead of personal issues such as rent.

"Not trying to tell you to do nothing about it If there is something to say don't say it shout it "

I think Jay is also saying that this isn't one of those songs that bitches about the world for no reason and leaves you to think nothing; it is saying you should speak up about the problems.
