I think this song is like what harper said.. the song is pretty straight forward.. the person is always on the outside of relationships, and believes he is really missing out on something special. In the video, there is a part where it shows a guy in a subway station waiting for a train. Then it shows another guy in the background, and I guess his girlfriend shows up and gives him a big hug, all at the same time the single guy is singing "I wanna know what it's like on the inside of love." That is a feeling I can't even count how many times I've felt.
