this song is very paradoxical. there is the apology: "i never meant to hurt you (but i did)
i'm sorry that you cried so hard darling,
i'll never hurt you again"...and yet there is also the seemingly hateful mocking of " who's the one that's laughing now,
i'm the one who's laughing now"...i get a really bittersweet, regretful tone from this one.
