anyway i think it's about living in spite of the fact that she's turned away from him. the last line may be dreaming? sleeping today so i can wake in your arms tonight, like, wake to a dream... sort of thing.
maybe the living in spite (upon reflection) is his implication that she feels something for him or something but turns away from it, lives in spite of those feelings and tears him apart. i dunno.
