this song came at a perfect time in my life in which i know exactly how Nate is feeling. it's obvious that this is in the wake of a terriable break-up and it's the woman's fault("this mistake has broken me", she said). the chorus is nate bidding the woman to not literally take his eyes, but take from him the habits his eyes have grown accustomed to of seeing her. he even goes as far as to wish that he could feel nothing from her, so much so, that her death would not affect him. i think the most powerful portion of this song is when nate writes "i can't justify your eyes" which i think means that he can not figure out what compels him to continue to get lost in her gaze. her eyes seem to have a kind of control over him.
well, that's what i get from it, very powerful song.
