i love this song because of its ties to real life. the people attending this life support group are named after the composers friends who died of aids. and the character gordon gets his line in this song from when the composer showed his rough draft of hte play to his real friend gordon, and gordon objected to this over-happiness/positivity of it all. so the composer (larson) wrote in this little section just for him. it's real. and in the original cast, the person who played gordon actually knew the real gordon and was friends with him and some of the other people too. it's really moving.
