It adds a nice little bit to the song... surrounded by the echoes of the guitars and the rhythm of the drums, it really just inspires me to think of various ways to relate that little spoken part to life. Maybe I'm just strange like that. Either way, I love this song. the length adds such emphasis, just like thegeneralschtan said.
