First of all, these are the lyrics as far as I know:
I always stay here for the fire
How many maidens are deprived of my shaft
Cut off my manhood, it's just a matter of. . .
I don't need no future.
Say, hey hey,
Here we crash!
I got my dilly spayed
I got my dilly spayed (REFRAIN)
I got my dilly spayed
I got my dilly.
And now she laughs about it,
Drinking inflections when the wind blows just right,
Jagged tongues of polyester,
How many chances to say it right?
Hey,
Never get it back
(REFRAIN)
I cut it off. . .
Just like it's just a piece of string
Don't judge for cause. . .
Now I just dig dig
Hear my fucking hate!
(REFRAIN)
Now if your world is getting ugly
Fiberglass insulation in the sky like cotton candy
Sonny now will save your tarantula ovulating,
Freddy can't help being wrong
Billy fucks me til I'm idle.
Every slit reminds me of someone,
Always say a prayer when you love both,
No need to kneel
Safe on your jump-rope,
Better set of lungs,
I got my queen of spades
I cut my little tail
I got my dilly spayed
I got my dilly spayed
I cut it off. . .
I cut it off. . .
I got no house. . .
I just got hate. . .hate. . .
WHere you gettin' this?!
I got my dilly spayed
I got my dilly spayed
I got my dilly spayed
I got my dilly spayed
I got my dilly spayed
I got my dilly spayed
I got my dilly
Secondly, this is not just a collection of sounds, there are actual lyrics, that simply were not released when teh song was transcribed to a magazine, nor to a tab book. Cobain would not give them permission to use these particualr lyrics, though whether it was actually his choice or not is unclear. The magazine did not try to figure out the lyrics, because in an earlier issue, they had tried to figure out the lyrics to "Big Cheese" and had utterly massacred them.
The song is vey halluncinatory, and obviously drug influenced, which can make figuring the meaning rather difficult. Overall, I would say that the song is about a man who castrates himself, during a bad trip, or because of previous sexual abuse and mental illness, or a combination of both.
Definately one of the harder-edged songs by Nirvana, and one of my favorites. .. too bad most people dismiss it as "not have real lyrics" or being "filler."
