ok so this song is so obviously about a "groupie" or "band-aid", whichever. it could have been someone that taupin knew, but we see from the rolling stone article that it was about these girls out in CA. they loved the music, they traveled with the bands, they fell in love with the musicians. their lives revolved around the music, and because they traveled with the band, they knew all of the lyrics. think exactly penny lane! almost famous is the best movie ever. i'm a bigger led zepplin fan, but elton john rocks.
