I can definitely see how its relates to her relationship with her father. But also, for anyone who has read House of Leaves, do you see how this song could be Karen's perspective about Navidson? After I read the book and listened to this song again, that is the thought that immediately jumped into my mind. Karen knows how she feels about things and where she stands but with him, things are different and she is "amazed." The same rules don't apply anymore. Also, the part where the song says, "When push comes to shove what I'd give to you - Everything - I'm amazed, The hallways I wouldn't mind crawling through...": This part right away brought to my mind the part in House of Leaves where Karen, in spite of having left Navidson and the house, returns there to find him and even goes into the hallway, disregarding and facing her own clausterphobia. And she is stunned that she is able to do this. Why does she? Because in the end, ("when push comes to shove...") she does care about Navidson.
I don't know, just a thought.
P.S. Actually, Poe's father died in 1993. Check Poe's "Haunted" CD jacket. She was in her 20's when he died, not a child.

@wanderingstar I agree but I also think the song is about Johnny and his mother especially the latter half.
