Imbrokn.. I totally understand.. this song and calm americans makes me cry when I am having really bad times or dealing with things in my life... it's just that powerful to me (Plus when I saw elliott live, they had so much passion and energy when they played... it knocked me over and made me like em that much more).
I think it relates to how we all fall short of what we want in life.. and for me it holds a spiritual value about God (at least that's what I gathered from talking to the lead singer from elliott). We all live in a world where we are suffering for what we believe. Sometimes people place their hopes on things that aren't worth fighting for (stressing over fallen angels). And we kind of forget what is important and dwell on things that might haunt us in our future (blessed by your OWN ghost).
In the first verse, Chris talks about someone who doesn't understand something, or someone completely (he wonders who YOU are, You wonder what he means) and he never really gets to fully understand what the other people wanted to tell him... or the other people might ignore him because we pre-judge his apperance and just "number" him, so to speak.
That's what I think.. in a nutshell... I've thought a lot more about this song.. but I don't want to make this too long.. so that's all I got.
