Ok, well i think this song is about a relationship with someone special who treated him like shit or did something devastating to him. The last part reinforces this.

On the other hand, the chorus makes me very much think that this song is about religion. I think he may be saying that he sees that religion doesnt make sense or that belief in God is useless. When it says "From above, a rain of ashes descends" it sounds like he may be saying that Heaven is "burning". Then he mentions Anathema, which os a person who is looked down upon or condemned, especially by the Church. Then he says "From below, in my seclusion" saying he is maybe looked down upon, or maybe under heaven (not with God). The "in my seclusion" part could mean that he is alone where the majority believe in God or religion and he is alone, or secluded, with his beliefs.
