this song is about getting away. the title "paid vacation time" i think is referring to running away from things, not awlays problems, and it is paid for through suffering. the second stanza clearly explains it, the friends you though you had are not really your friends at all, they act like it to fit in or be cool or something childish like that and when you realize they are laughing at you not with you, you what to get away, not really commit suicide but get rid of those fake people hence trade it all for a tank full of fuel, to drive away from them. i am not sure what the bel aire colonial deluxe number five is but it reminds me of ordering at a drive through like the band name kinda. all the warmth that a boy can give is referring to the love of a naive person similar to a child that seems hollow after the realization of his fake friends. the sheepskin costume refers to how the fake friends are fake, a sheepskin is taken from something else like the child's purity before his fake friends. the sheepskin costume is noticable to someone that knows. the kind of costume to hide fucking fake ass friends from naive pure children. the truant officer is someone that catches late students in a school. if you think of life like a school the truant officer would be the one punishing the student that realizes the fakeness of his fake friends too late. i fucking hate fake people! this song is so fucking true. when i figured out the lyrics it changed me like the way fucking fake people change naive pure child. another example of just how real and great atdi is!
