I'll have to agree with Hooby on this one.
Although Michelle Branch can be classified as sort of alternative, her music is popular hence she is also classified as pop. I think that pop has definately been defined to so many people as Britney Spears style music that just say the same meaningless things. If that was the case I wouldn't classify Michelle Branch as pop. However, she has clearly set a new standard for the fact that she has her own unique style and writes her songs. This is exactly what makes her music popular. I would like to think of this as a good thing.
