i think it's about missing someone dead. he will be the same when his girlfriend comes back or he goes there. also, he said that "she [his wife] only thinks I wrote two good songs, "it's a motherfucker" and "fresh feeling", and one of them is about her." i'm inclined to believe that "fresh feeling" is about the wife, and also, imagine him hangin out with mom on a sunday, and now he's all sad cos she's gone. of course he does say "just me again" like whoever he's singin to came into his life and then dissapeared again.
but as for me, i first listened to this song right after i talked to this girl who i really cared a lot about and i really felt like she didn't care about me at all and she lived far away and i was driving home listening to it. it was the sweetest pain in the world, it was like,
