I think that he's talking about someone who looks for worldly glory and is missing the whole point of life. They spend all their time trying to get to be the best, they spend all their life trying to make so much moeny... they lose all their friends that really care because they can't stand the way he's become. He gets sarcastic and says "forget all the others, they just don't see you've got everything you need to make it on your own..." he says he hopes the guy finds everything he's looking for and he hopes he makes it, because he worries what the guy will do when it doesn't happen and when he wakes up at forty and realizes his life is empty and has meant nothing.
