It's about overprotection, and he's trying to convince this other person (a girl for example) that he is holding her back and that she has to live her own life, draw her own conclusions, take responsibility of her own actions, etc.. He is tired of running her errands and that explains the darker tone in the end of the conversation. In a way he is telling her what will happen if nothing changes.
