Oh Yes! You are SO right! Saw them live just the other day - the man actually played a Mandolin for the verses and Guitar for the rest - he had both strapped round his neck at the same time!!! Genius.
I reckon its about one person in a relationship continually forgiving the other for somethings (cheating maybe, whatever). Can't figure out whether it is him who is doing the forgiving, or if it is him being forgiven, though.
