Lyric discussion by Papa

This is a song about celebrity. and how success can still leaving you with longing for something. The singer is choking on his success ("Diamond ring"), and longs for mystery and the fantastic.

Eef is aware of how silly this is. We all want fame and fortune, and most of us will never get it. He has it, and here he is, complaining about it. The idea of a "long lost twin" is cliche and often associated with melodramatic soap operas. This suggests that we aren't to take his moping too seriously, or at least he is aware enough of it to get by.

He describes the world as one big gift, with great things hiding in it. It is the hope for those gifts and those great things that keep us going. When you are struggling, you constantly discover those gifts. And when you succeed, you lose track of it.

The last few seconds of the song tell alot. The music changes from an old-fashioned, country-like sound to a modern pop-rock sound and he sings "Sometimes I wish I was never born." The bottom line is, he is depressed and the cause of his depression is the fact that he doesn't like himself.
