I think it's about a relationship he had and all he didn't do anything to make her mad, but he never did anything to make her stay. And now that she is leaving he has to tell her lies on why she needs to stay, but she left anyways. And now that they don't talk all he can do is dream about her and since that's all he can do, he will dream his life away. Such a meaningful song.
