I read it a little differently but maybe its just cause im relating it to my life. the references to a lover make me think that this song is about a person falling for someone they cant have. Now the persona is feeling the strain..."time to pass you to the test." can they continue on like this?? the person they love is the only thing allowing then to "hang on." but the object of their affection finds love in other places.
