Backstrokin' Lyrics

This song reminds me of the opening scene of Lynch's "Blue Velvet", basically its all about how human society seems all neat, tidy, happy, and organized on the surface, but once you get underneath it, there's some really ugly stuff going on. Listen to the last half of the song, in the foreground is a beautiful piano melody, but if you listen underneath that you hear some of the most god awful sounds, and then the final lyrics come in.

Perfect description of the song, I didn't even know there were creepy sounds underneath the lyrics of the song before I read your comment, that bring a whole new dimension to it. This song is such a great break after the confusion of "The Bends" to just have a simple tune with meaningless lyrics, it's perfectly placed on the album.
