Although I love the rythum of this song, I am having trouble understanding the meaning. Can someone explain this one to me. What exactly does he mean by "I miss new wave"?
The song is a very complex song to decipher, but this is what I notice about it. New wave was the same as punk a new wave of music to come in and change everything, New wave itself got popular and lost its soul to some degree. New wave seems to be some Ideal to look up to but is irrevocably flawed in some way that the narrator doesn't want to see "movies about losing/just the parts where its a-okay/miss scratches on my long plays/just the parts where its okay" If you notice about the song after each verse...

I think each time the world "screams" he loses something until everyone walks away.
