maybe not even people sometimes, but certain places, certain mentalities, and certain situations are just destructive.
sometimes i don't realize it until i look back at them, but i can usually tell what one of those "lurking shadows" is by the huge amount of relief and joy that i feel when i've distanced myself from it for the first time.
i jost broke free from another one of those recently. felt really good. i tip my hat to you guys for putting that feeling into words.
