It is about a man that lives in a world that is filled with violence and killing. Everyone says that love will save us. It's not happening though. He is told that a hero will save us. He's not going to wait...he'll be that hero..
He becomes the hero...the world is safe....he is sending true love out to her. It isn't the same love that everyone has always known...so will it be good enough?
Or it could just be for the movie and he's a loser gone superhero so he's no longer gonna be a spectator, he's gonna go fight bad guys and save the day. He saves the day and she has fallen in love with "spider man"...not him...he loves her but doesnt think that she will love him for him and not spidey.
