Have to agree with narsil... the song is definitely to a friend. I see the "I will bring you down/ I don't want to miss, I don't think you can handle this" as being like... they're losing their true self in looking for something ("You've lose what you can't find, it's never what you had in mind") and don't even realize it, and the songwriter is going to bring them down from this sort of power trip or sense of denial that they're going through. The friend can see that they can't handle what they're doing to themselves, and just wants to help them, even if it seems like it would be hurting them at the time. I agree that this is one of the best on the album.
