i reckon this song is about a person who's been betrayed by someone, a friend/lover, and now both of them are simply acting politely to eachother despite how they feel.
i have never heard anything as descriptive as "seeing you is like pulling teeth, and hearing your voice is like chewing tin fooooil". i mean, damn that's good writing, and it happened to pick exactly how i felt.
